The Golden Pond Planetarium
Night skies in LBL are a special place where the
stars seem so much brighter and easier to see.
During the day, we offer visitors an opportunity to
learn more about the weather, the planets of our solar system, and the
skies tonight in your own back yard.
Come visit us and become involved with the a study of
the beauty of the heavens. The stars, comets, and planets of our
solar system as well as their history and the names of the constellations
add greatly to our understanding of the local night skies.
Participate in our various programs that share the
beauty and awe derived from the night skies and mankind's pursuit of
knowledge.

Did
you know..?
The
40-foot (12.2m) diameter dome in the Golden Pond Planetarium weighs
approximately 3,000 lbs, and if you lined up all of the perforations in
one row, with no spaces in between, they would extend 33.40 miles. There
are approximately 20,348,928 perforations in the hemisphere, and you could
fit 249,945,112 plain M&Ms inside of the dome.
There is plenty of
room for your and for your family to see and hear the excitement shared by
our interpreters and the exciting programs offered at the Golden Pond
Planetarium.

calendar of events by looking here.
Educators will want to go to our
Educator Resource Page for
items which can be of assistance in development classes and illustrating
teaching objectives about the heavens and those who travel there by
spacecraft.
