Elk Count
During past years,
Volunteers have assisted the Forest Service as they conducted an on-the-ground walk
across the Elk and Bison Prairie. This assisted the naturalists with
their assessment of the number and the health of the Bison and the Elk
herds who make the Prairie their home. This is not a current
activity conducted by the Forest Service.
Summer Saturday Night Star Viewing Shows
The Golden Pond Planetarium hosts visitors to its multimedia digital
theater and free-standing observatory during Saturday nights during June
through August each year for its special offering of Summer Nights. These
8pm showings give visitors to LBL an opportunity to glimpse into the
heavens with an interpreter’s understanding of what can be seen in the
clear skies over LBL. Western Kentucky Amateur Astronomers are
present to assist with locating the stars in your skies weather
permitting.

Other special events
LBL hosts numerous special events at different times throughout the year.
Volunteer opportunities are always available to assist in various programs
and positions. Some of the special events at LBL include the Children’s
Festival, the Bald Eagle Challenge Bike Race, National Trail Day, National
Public Lands Day and the 1850's Agricultural Fair at The Homeplace Living History
Farm.

Come join others as we strive to make your Public Lands a wonderful place
to visit. This event is scheduled during the later part of September
each year. Come join us.
LBL
Wide Clean-up
LBL remains a safe, enjoyable environment for visitors thanks to hundreds
of volunteers who help keep LBL clean. In celebration of National Public
Lands Day, volunteers participate in LBL’s Fall property wide Clean-Up each
year. On average, over 300 volunteers join together to pick up litter by
boat and on foot along LBL’s 300 miles of shoreline.

Earth Camp in Dover
Friends of LBL assists other organizations whose purpose is
aligned with that of LBLA. We have assisted where possible as may be shown
regarding Earth Camp events
in Dover, Tennessee.
